(NEW) Andrea Costa, Brazil – Peaberry Natural

(NEW) Andrea Costa, Brazil – Peaberry Natural

from £12.00

Some of you will recognise this name as it's a coffee we had last year — but this year it is a peaberry. A peaberry occurs when only one seed develops inside the coffee cherry rather than the usual two, resulting in a denser, rounder bean that many believe produces a more concentrated and distinctive cup.

The coffee comes from Andrea Costa, the mother of Bruna, who heads up Bossa, a new importer we've started working with that specialises in Brazilian specialty coffee.

Andrea and her brother Luis take care of their farm, which belonged to their father — once a big coffee exporter in Brazil. The farm is where Andrea has lived most of her life and where Bruna grew up. Chácara Santo Antônio also has an incredibly preserved nature reserve where you can spot the Guará wolf, toucans and the Brazilian jaguar, as well as a beautiful river where the family spent most of their weekends.

The family has always produced fine coffees since Andrea's father, Mr Décio, started his export business in the 1970s. He was a pioneer in investing in different varietals and processing methods, and Andrea and Luis have taken that passion one step further since Bruna began working in specialty coffee internationally. Their ambition is to produce incredible specialty lots for her to sell and showcase around the UK and beyond.

Mother and daughter share a passion for the industry and for promoting the region where both grew up.

This coffee works well black and also with milk.
