(NEW) Patricia Coelho, Brazil - Natural Peaberry

from £12.50

Some of you may remember Andrea Costa — a Brazilian coffee we've had from importer Bossa over the past year. This coffee came about because Andrea's wasn't available this season, and Bruna at Bossa suggested Patricia as an alternative. We're really glad she did.

Patricia is a smallholder farmer from Mogiana, in the city of Espírito Santo do Pinhal. She recently took over the family coffee business from her father and now runs it alongside her son Pedro, who is an agronomist living on site. Her husband Mauricio is the Commercial Manager at Costa Café — Bruna's father's export business — which is how the connection came about.

Patricia has been selling specialty coffee through Costa since 2018 and each year continues to invest in quality and processing. The farm sits at between 1,050 and 1,300 metres above sea level and the terroir is remarkable — her neighbour is Guaspari, one of Brazil's most renowned wineries.

This is a peaberry selection of the Obata variety, processed naturally. Peaberries occur when only one seed develops inside the coffee cherry rather than the usual two, resulting in a denser, rounder bean that many believe produces a more concentrated and distinctive cup.

This coffee works well black and also with milk.
