from £15.00

This coffee from producer Javier Campoverde in Peru is a new offering from our friends Raw Material who we source many of our coffees from.

This coffee came about fairly unexpectedly and was sourced through Tomas who runs the operation in Mexcio called Red Beetle that we source the Mexican coffee Cacalotepec. We met Tomas last year when travelling in Mexico.

In northern Peru, small-holder farmers typically don't name their farms, instead referring to them as "chacra". These producers traditionally belong to large cooperatives, but as specialty coffee demand has grown, many skilled farmers have sought more direct relationships to better represent their exceptional coffees.

Raw Material and Red Beetle work closely with exporter Finca Churupampa—a family-owned operation run by cousins Lenin and Eber in Chirinos, San Ignacio. They provide technical assistance to help producers improve quality and coordinate exports of these outstanding micro-lots.

Javier's coffee comes from his farm in La Florida - Ihuamaca, situated at an impressive altitude of 1950 MASL. The lot features Red Bourbon and Caturra varieties and undergoes a washed process with 36 hours of fermentation.

This careful processing helps develop the coffee's clean, structured profile. Thomas from Red Beetle scored this particular lot at an impressive 87 points and it stood out the most from the coffees we cupped.
